Here are by thoughts and feedback after one day of playing week 2 of the H5 beta.
By the way I didn't play breakout at all since I didn't have much interest in the gametype personally. So I mostly played slayer. I got the map Eden though a lot so I know some of the commonly used callouts. That means I know the map better than the other map Regret, but once I do learn what I want to do and how I want to move on the map Regret I'll make some added adjustments to this post as needed.
Ater playing a couple of slayer games I find the light rifle to definitely be more powerful than it's halo 4 counterpart. It takes about 3 shots to kill whether that's just scoped in I'm not sure. The rate of fire is slowed as well. The aiming felt a little harder not sure if that's the gun or just my lacking in skill at the moment. the smart scope for it is definitely different than all other weapons so I'm expecting promethian weapons to have scopes of similar nature.
:Eden:
Eden is one of the two slayer maps you can play on for week two. Eden is a variant of the week one map empire so some callouts are pretty similar but the map does have it's differences and uniqueness. You can find the light rifle at turbine or ar security on the map Eden. Teams initially spawn across from each other blue team spawns on outside and red team spawns in security. Also the map has an energy sword that spawns in blue base and a sniper that spawns in red base. I fine that most good vantage points are the red/blue nests. The walkway by security is definitely a place where you'll see some action around as well since itcan see blue/red platform, blue/red nest, blue open, security, and other spots that I can't think of but you get the point it's a good place to control especially with a light rifle. Some people don't know about this but the cover at outside in the middle well the light on it facing security can be shot to lower it and raise a cover by red and blue bends. There is another jump in Eden as well but it's hard to explain so I'll link a video to it instead
Halo 5 Beta | Hidden Jump-up on Eden:
I have played many game on Eden whether I won or lose really depended on good placement and lines of sight since the light rifle and snipe can punish you for peaking out at bad times. A trick I learned is that if you sprint then thruster and clamber you can go from upper walkway to red nest really easily to clear out guys hiding one shot in the nest a well placed grenade could do the trick as well though.
:Regret:
Regret is the other map of week two tthathas been showcased it is a variant of the week one map Truth which is a variant of the Halo 2 map midship (I know variant inception anybody). The map features the light rifle as well in top middle. In bottom middle the new halo 5 weapon known as the Hydra MLRS spawns it is really fun to use. To lock on to someone you must zoom in first. I think it's like a two hit kill. Also if you get a direct hit then shot someone once in the head it kills. I'm not one hundred percent sure though as I've had limited time in using the hydra. It can be dodged easily if you know how to use your thruster pack wisely. I find most fights happen around the ramparts, arch, top mid, and overhang. The ramparts have great sightlines looking at top mid and overhang so if you need to get a line of sight there try the ramparts. my opening route in Regret is normally me going to top mid as fast as possible. Also nading bottom mid as needed so someone can get hydra hopefully your own team. Once top mid I get the light rifle then camp a rampart pelting people as I see them. After that the match just goes on as any match does. I find myself liking Regret more than I used too at the beginning now.
Also your welcome if this post was helpful to anyone in anyway ( ^ω^)
