Over the past few days, we have received reports that some users have been having trouble accessing Xbox Live and related services. When these reports began on December 25, we were concerned and began discussing risk mitigation, including postponing this week’s Halo Championship Series Online Cup. We have been monitoring the situation as well as reports from the Halo community, and due to continued community reports this morning, have made the decision to postpone this week’s HCS Cup #3 (scheduled for today, 12/28) to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly, fairly, and without complication. This week’s originally scheduled HCS Online Cup #3 will now be played on Sunday, January 11, 2015.
We apologize sincerely for the late notice on this cancellation, and realize that many HCS players and fans schedule their Sundays around the HCS Online Cups. We are grateful and appreciative of your dedication, and apologize for the same-day notice on this cancellation. Should a similar situation arise in the future, 343 Industries and ESL will ensure that players are informed of such decisions much earlier. We once again apologize for the inconvenience and miscommunication.
The upcoming UGC Diamond HCS LAN will be seeded by the current HCS standings as of HCS Online Cup #2. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing all competitors in St. Louis next weekend.
